Ronald McDonald House

The Sacramento Ronald McDonald House provides a temporary residence for families with children in long-term critical care units at UC Davis Medical Center.   This home-away-from-home provides comfort and support to families who must travel many miles to seek medical treatment for their child.

The site plan responds to the need for interest, activity, and facilities for families away from home for a long period of time in unfortunate circumstances.   Large turf areas provide play areas for informal soccer, football, and frisbee,  while the playgrounds are designed to accommodate all age groups.  Plantings were carefully selected to provide year-round interest, with whimsical sculptural elements placed throughout the site.
