RJM
Design Group
believes the community knows its needs and desires best. This
viewpoint translates into the san Leandro Citywide aquatics
Master Plan redesign by soliciting community involvement in
the design process.
RJM
in concert with Aquatic Design Group facilitated a workshop
process beginning with an awareness tour of the five existing
sites as well as tours of five other aquatic facilities. After
these tours small group discussions were held to express impressions
of the facilities and their possibilities in constraint to
the city facilities. Each group created a likes/dislikes list
which was then organized into a consensus list.
There
were a number of items that the group found important:
-
Separate pools allowing for multi-purpose use
-
A variety of good public programs
- Large
well lit locker rooms with large lockers
- Parking
that is convenient and with adequate spaces
- Areas
that provide shade
- Facilities
for parties/community room/expansion room
- A
shallow area, deep end and regulation competitive size pool
-
Bleachers
- A
large deck area ADA compliant
The
community workshop process is an invaluable process and the
plans and insights direct the Master Plan.
