The
historic Woodland Cemetery
has huge palm lined drives giving a sense of its age and beauty.
RJM
has worked with the City to address maintenance concerns,
financial issues and space allocation.
The
cemetery has many high lots which prove to be a maintenance
problem since it is difficult to get the mowers over the footings
and thus dilute the amount of time employees have to care
for the property. The recommended treatment for this issue
is to remove the grass from the high lots and replace with
a turf substitute that grows low and does not require mowing.
Examples include dichondra, thyme, dwarf mondo grass, dwarf
blue lily turf, ajuga and others providing a lush, low maintenance
covering.
A
Columbarium Garden area is a suggested enhancement that would
provide cremated remains in niches in a beautiful garden setting.
RJM recommends a circular one way path while closing down
some side drives. The space from these closed drives will
create space for further development and eliminate traffic
flow issues.
RJM
analyzed the revenue projections of identified development
opportunities, and recommended increasing the fees charged
to be competitive with similar local cemeteries. We analyzed
the endowment allocation and recommended a strategy to accumulate
adequate funds to self-sustain in perpetuity upon buildout
in 25 years.
RJM
is working closely with the City to ensure the Woodland Cemetery
retains its historic feel while improving flow, creating more
space and ensuring proper finances to maintain the cemetery.
