The
City of Long Beach
has a strong craftsman-style architectural history. The primary
inspiration for the Craftsman style was to look at the flow
and symmetry of nature and interpret this into design. This
history is carried over in the design of the Cesar Chavez
Community Park.
This
thirty acre community park is centered around an aquatics
facility with a 10,500 square-foot craftsman-style community
center. The proximity to Shoreline Drive created a site challenge
by dividing the park into two separate use-areas.
The
park program includes:
- Picnic
areas
- Basketball
courts
- Tennis
Courts
- Roller
hockey courts
- Lighted
soccer fields
- Multi-use
trails and pedestrian bridges
- Amphitheater
- Water
features
- Playgrounds
for various age groups
