Avid skaters from throughout the El Dorado Hills community joined together in a workshop process to design the new El Dorado Hills Skate Park. One-half acre site was master planned to be built in conjunction with an adjacent Teen Center. Skaters will be able to do tricks on ridges, rails, ramps, bowls and decks, as well as other elements designed by the skaters. The skatepark will be constructed of concrete, byt will include some features (ramps, half pipes, platforms, etc.), that will be constructed of wood, metal and composite fiberglass/high density polymer plastic skating surfaces. The skatepark will be lighted with high-cutoff light fixtures. Adjacent to the skatepark will be the construction of 25 new parking stalls for parents and teens to access the skatepark, as well as the future tennis courts planned to be constructed across New York Creek.
The project was constructed in 2007 and opened to the joy of the skating public in November. The project is the new treasure of the El Dorado Hills park system and skaters can be observed from the redwood decks of the teen center after school (3:00pm) most days.
