RJM incorporates a series of cast in place retaining walls on the Milliken Avenue Underpass and Median to provide an architectural transition from the railway bridges to the "depressed" alignment of Milliken Avenue. Treatment of the walls with a board-formed finish was repeated on the overpass design to integrate the project into the adjacent landscape.

Both the overpass and the adjacent retaining walls were detailed to soften the project's overall impact within the community right-of-way.

Two miles of median improvements utilize indigenous materials, a water efficient landscape palette, drip irrigation and moisture sensors.
