SACRAMENTO MASTER PLAN FOR PARKS & RECREATION
Sacramento, CA

The Master Plan for Park Facilities and Recreation Services for the City of Sacramento serves is a guide to orderly development, renovation and improvement of parks, facilities and services for the City of Sacramento. This document describes the Master Plan process and summarizes the recommendations resulting from the process.

Because of the City's large number of existing parks the City was divided into eleven planning areas to allow working at a manageable scale and to allow adequate attention to detail in planning proposed facilities.

The Master Plan process was a two-part effort. During Part I, Assessment of Facilities, existing conditions in the City's park system were studied. The Community Analysis effort included an inventory of existing parks, review of current park standards, study of the current and projected demographic profile of the City, and review of maintenance and operations practices. The Needs Assessment study included obtaining community input through a phone survey and public workshops. Park I provided a base of information for elements of Part II, the Action Plan. The Master Plan Vision recommendations and implementation are all part of the Action Plan.
